SINGING WITH CAS

CAS AT-A-GLANCE

  • Choral Art Society of NJ (CAS) is a community chorus dedicated to the study and performance of the choral literature. Under the direction of conductor Martin Sedek, the choir performs two concerts each year, usually with orchestral accompaniment.

  • CAS is an avocational ensemble; formal auditions are not required, though singing and basic music reading ability is required.

  • CAS is a dues-paying organization. Membership dues are $150 for the full year, plus the cost of music (appx. $20/concert).

  • Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings from 7:30 - 10pm at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield Chapel.

MORE INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE SINGERS

CAS of NJ always welcomes new singers to join us as we pursue our mission of studying and performing great choral masterpieces. Experienced choral singers are invited to attend one of our rehearsals to experience it for themselves with no pressure or commitment!  We strive for a balance of classic masterworks and contemporary repertoire.

CAS is an avocational group - the range of ability within the group is quite wide.  Some of our members have been singing in choirs their whole lives, others even have degrees and professional experience in music - but the majority of our singers are people from all vocations who have a love of singing in common.  CAS singers need only to have some experience singing and be able to read music.

CAS membership offers experience and education in vocal arts in a friendly, supportive, and very social environment. We are truly a society, and membership in CAS quickly offers a wonderful second family!
