About Our May 2025 Concert

Come be part of something special on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield (140 Mountain Avenue). This concert is all about powerful storytelling through music, featuring John Corigliano's  "Fern Hill", a stunning setting of Dylan Thomas's poetry depicting memories of Thomas's idyllic childhood spent on his family farm

R. Nathaniel Dett's "The Chariot Jubilee" is a powerful concert work blending twentieth century art music with classic African-American Spirituals, featuring gifted Tenor soloist Edward Washington II. Along with a selection of other moving works, we’ll be joined by the talented voices of the Westfield High School Concert Choir, making this an afternoon of music you won’t want to miss.

We are excited that this concert will be the debut of our new Music Director, Seth Velez, an accomplished conductor, bass-baritone, and music educator with over a decade of industry experience in Los Angeles and New York. Other featured artists include Westfield High School's Concert Choir, led by Music Director, John Brzozowski, and Choral Art Society's own Linda Smargiassi, mezzo-soprano soloist for "Fern Hill". Enjoy other favorites, including "Shenandoah", "Deep River", "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child", as well as selected works performed by Westfield High School's Concert Choir.

We look forward to seeing you there!
